The giant rock sound of Flight to Mars, a tribute band to the 1970’s group UFO, will fill the Showbox at The Market stage this Friday, May 10th. Highlighted by the virtuoso guitarists Mike McCready (Pearl Jam) and Tim DiJulio (HalloQueen), the 11th annual performance will benefit Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America’s Camp Oasis and Advocacy for Patients with Chronic Illness, two non-profit organizations that McCready regularly supports.

“It’s all-out rock and roll,” said DiJulio, who has been lifelong friends with McCready. “Most bands don’t throw down the way we throw down. But more importantly, the show brings awareness to an illness that is really painful, an illness that can often have kids feeling alone. The show is a great way to get people together – it’s one of the most fun nights of the year for me!”

Founded in 2003, Flight to Mars also features Gary Westlake (bass), Mike Musburger (drums), Paul Passereli (vocals) and Ty Bailie (keys). The performance will open with McCready & Friends Acoustic Medley and Poor Moon. Doors are at 8pm, with the show starting at 9pm (21 and over). $20 advance tickets are available at the Showbox’s website, and will be $25 the day of. Proceeds will benefit the two charities.
